The Research Program “The Organization Workshop” is aimed at studying how firms change and how work is transformed.
The Research Program, initiated in 1983 and coordinated by Bruno Maggi, former Professor of Organization Theory at the University of Bologna, is based on the Theory of Organizational Action.
An original meeting between Firms and University has generated a privileged observation point about the firms’ changes: in thirty years, more than 150 cases have been discussed, concerning the transformation of the general organizational design, the arrangement of line and staff units, the modification of firms’ boundaries and other organizational interventions, with a specific focus on how such changes are related to the evolution of work. The cases also shed light on the connections between the organizational choices and other strategic, marketing, information systems, human resource management choices.
The outcomes of research activities and seminar debates on firms and work transformations are published in books and scientific journals.
